Welcome to Ricks Institute! For over 119 years, Ricks Institute has been committed to teaching, learning and serving. The school is accredited by the Ministry of Education of Republic of Liberia and is commissioned by the Liberia Baptist Missionary and Educational Convention, Inc. Our students in the 6th, 9th, and 12th grades are required to take the Liberian National Exams administer by the West African Examination Council during the second semester.
Student admissions are based on the combinations of the student’s intellectual ability, character, willingness to learn and study, achievement and other related factors. Students enrolling at Ricks Institute must be of good behavior, having successfully completed previous grade level.

2. Complete an Application Form
3. Once place, students must summit an official transcript from last school attended; two (2) letter of recommendations (one from student’s previous school; one from a civil leader, pastor or community leader); and 3. two (2) passport size pictures and two hanging files; and 4. An essay (for grades Junior & Senior High students) on: Why I want to attend Ricks Institute? Essay must not exceed 400 words.
Free Primary Education (K-6)
Every student (K-6) receives tuition waiver and other benefits. This initiative is part of Ricks Institute commitment to participate in the rebuilding process of lives in the overall reconstruction of Liberia. There is limited student space because Ricks maintains a minimum class size. The slogan for this program is: “Free Education: Free, But Not Cheap—Somebody Has To Pay For It.” The parents/ Guardians of students who benefit from this initiative, must signed a Memorandum of Understand and must commit to volunteering not less than 3 hours a month in any service of their choosing on the Ricks Campus.
Scholarship/ Aids
ALL Ricks students receive a Scholarship subsidy which helps to cut down the actual tuition/ fee. In additional to this, there are limited number of scholarships available to students for various reasons. Our goal is that all deserving student at Ricks receives an education regardless of financial limitations.
The Ricks Institute Student Sponsorship (RISS Program)
The Ricks Institute Student Sponsorship (RISS) Program is designed to solicit financial assistance for needy children within the Ricks Institute learning community. Sponsors are contributing directly to the students’ needs to include tuition/school fees, uniforms, notebooks, safe drinking water, feeding/nutrition needs, student medical clinic, health education, library books, laboratory equipments, vacation youth development program etc. at Ricks Institute. All donations are sent directly to Ricks Institute to benefit the wellbeing of each student. Students are chosen through recommendation by staff/ teachers/ community leaders/ administration. Students Do Not Receive Cash Grant!
